The 3rd Amiga Owners: 1995 - 1996

One Year....
One year is all it took for Escom to change from the Amigas rescuer to yet another dead parent. Originally only after the Commodore trademarks they rather grudgingly bought the Amiga as well. It was soon clear that their plans to develop a new Amiga were half hearted. Despite numerous announcements they failed to reveal any of the products in development, apart from the Walker. Their only lasting influence is the Amiga logo and adopting an open licensing policy, allowing a number of companies including VISCorp to develop their own Amigas. In 1996 they announced losses and before anyone realized it, went into liquidation. VISCorp announced they had struck a deal to buy the Amiga from the company, only to pull out towards Christmas. They were then replaced by Quikpak, until finally the Amiga was bought by Gateway 2000.
