Ever since I bought my PPC board and Miami3, I frequently experience errors. For example, when I go online, I can surf the net, but when I have to reboot for some reason and go online again, it takes about 10 seconds before the modem hangs up! Reconnecting has the same effect. What can I do?

There are reports that the PPC board conflicts with the internal serial.device, so it has been advised that you should find an alternative to the serial.device. In the case of Miami, it includes a custom device which appears to have less problems with the PPC, but it is not perfect. There is a work around by disabling fast ram, using the NOFASTRAM utility, connect again and then use NOFASTRAM to re-enable Fast ram.
If you want to avoid this problem altogether, the best solution is to buy an external serial port, such as the Portplus or Hypercomm.
