AMIGA PC DEVELOPER MACHINE

Lorraine prototype
Developer: Hi-Torro/Amiga Corp.
Planned Launch: June 1984

Two months before Commodore bought Amiga Inc. and one month before Atari suspended funding on the Amiga project a press release announced the release of an Amiga PC developer machine (Amiga PC was the official title for the Lorraine prototype). It is unlikely that the Amiga PC Developer machine was ever completed, but it proves that Amiga Inc. were intending to provide developers with a method of writing software that would be ready for the Amiga PC consumer launch (planned for the 4th quarter of 1984).

Amiga PC images
In the year 2000, prototype models of the original Commodore developer machine were revealed. These provide new information on the pre-Commodore Amiga design. Although they are not of the Amiga PC itself, they are the only remaining evidence of the original plans for the machine.

The following images are provided by Cameron Kaiser of The Secret Weapons of Commodore and Ryan E. A. Czerwinski of Merlancia. Reproduced with permission.
