In spite of the interesting name, Direct Software's 'Power
Amiga' was merely an expanded A1200 in a
tower case. Only a small number of machines were sold and within
two months of its launch, Direct Software had entered liquidation.
Many people lost their money when this happened but the event was
quietly ignored by the mainstream press.

Power Amiga Mark 2
Even before Direct Software had released the first bundle they
were already indicating plans to release a second machine. This
would use Phase 5's PowerUP PPC 603e card, in conjunction with a
68030/040/60 CPU. It is likely that the Picasso IV board would have
been dropped in favour of Phase 5's PPC CyberVision board.
