The Puma

Announced Release:
November, 1994

According to press articles, the Puma was launched in November of 1994. It is unlikely that Commodore officially sanctioned this machine. The Puma was designed as a full multimedia system for the professional market. In my opinion both of these machines are based upon a CD32 using the SX-1 board to provide all of the capabilities of a easy to use computer.

Processor 68020
Operating System AmigaOS 3.1
Memory 6Mb Ram (2MB Chip 4MB Fast)
Disk drive 880k Double Density
Hard Disk 245Mb 2.5 inch IDE
Ports 3 serial, 2 parallel
Other Internal power supply, external keyboard, and mouse
Price $2,511 (about £1800)

The Panther

The Panther was an expanded version of the Puma, utilitising the faster 68030 CPU and additional expansion slots. A rumour at the time suggested a Video Toaster bundle was also planned.

Processor 50MHz 68030

Faster than a speeding tabby!

The range of feline Amigas was planned to continue with the advent of a 68060-based Amiga system. As far as I know this has never came to fruition, but the possibility is still there.
