I have copied software from a MAC CD into the Shapeshifter hardfile using the crossmount utility. However, when I try to load the applications I have copied, it just says something like "Teach Text cannot load files of this size". It seems to think that everything is a text file. What can I do?

The problem with the Mac is that it handles file types in a different way than other systems. You cannot simply copy files direct to the Mac disk without using the Mac. Mac file structures are completely different from the Amiga file structure, every Mac file has two files- the data and resource forks. So when you copy the file through the AmigaOS, you lose some of the file information. To avoid this use a Mac filetype conversion program, such as UnHQX. This is located in the misc\emul section of Aminet. You can also mount the Mac CD on the Mac emulation- either by using the EMPCD: device or by directly emulating the CD-ROM.
