Why doesn't the program work after I configured the icon?

It is quite possible that you have accidentally altered the type of icon that you were creating. You can change this by using an icon editor such as IconEdit or Iconian.

In IconEdit, these modes are located in the pull-down menu labelled TYPE. If you are still confused about which one you need the different types of icons are:

DISK- For use with storage devices such as disks, hard drives etc.

DRAWER- For directories.

TOOL- For executable programs or commands.

PROJECT- For use with files created by a program, such as an art package.

GARBAGE- For the trashcan drawer.

BACK
