How do I create and extract .ADF files on my Amiga?
The ADF stands for Amiga Disk File and, as the name suggests, is
basically an image of the Amiga disk structure. It can be seen as
similar to the DMS format except that it does not compress the
file. These files are used specifically for Amiga emulation, either
on an Amiga or any other platform. So what use do they have on a
real Amiga? Well, a large amount of software is being released in
this format that you may have difficulty finding anywhere else.
Many Amiga emulator CDs contain around 200 of the Assassins PD
disks. Unlike many Amiga titles these can actually be bought in
many computing shops. My local HMV stock a range of Amiga and
Spectrum emulator CDs a year after they stopped Amiga support.

This can also decompress files compressed using Zip that have
the ADZ extension.
